Lana Del Rey has broken her silence about her controversial Glastonbury show which was cut short, admitting: “Sorry about that.”

The American hitmaker's show last month started late which meant she breached the strict festival curfew - forcing organisers to turn her mic off.

On Sunday night the Summer Time Sadness star performed at London’s BST Hyde Park and made light of the controversy which left her fans in tears at the time.

When introducing her track Diet Mountain Dew, Lana joked: “I think is where I got cut off last time. Sorry about that.” Just before her final song Video Games she made another reference to the Worthy Farm set she added: “It’s worth it if the power is cut.”

Lana was due onstage at 8.40pm. She was only 20 minutes late as she arrived on stage at 9pm and finished her performance just before the 10:30pm curfew.

At Glastonbury, Lana arrived on stage 30 minutes late claiming she was delayed getting her hair done. She was due to take to the Other Stage at 10.30pm, but did not step out until around 11pm.

Glastonbury have a strict midnight curfew and Lana's set had been due to end at 11.45pm, but was still going on more than 15 minutes later.

Fans even threatened to leave if she didn't show up within good time – and she was welcomed on stage by a series of boos from the crowd.

Lana told the crowds: "I was so f**king late that I am about to rush this set today, if they cut power, they cut power. I'm super f**king sorry, my hair takes so long to do. I love you all. Let's run the set as it's supposed to go, let's do it!"

Midway through the set Lana was filmed having her hair done after she admitted her hair was the cause of her tardiness. The songstress was seen sitting on a chair in between tunes as a stylist came onto the stage to change her locks as she continued to perform.

As the clock stroked midnight, Lana's mic was cut off. The image of Lana on the big screen was then replaced with an advert for the festivals Arcadia stage popped up as Skepta B2B Jammer's performance began in a brutal dig.

Despite losing power, Lana was seen pleading with a someone at the side of the stage – perhaps asking for power to be restored.

Lana refused to leave and kept the audience entertained as she began to sing her hit Video Games with the crowd at The Other Stage joining in.

However, some fans couldn't help but feel disappointed as one told the Mirror: "It was beyond a joke. She had a headline set and ruined it by being late. I’m gutted we didn’t get to hear her full setlist."

After her set, the 38-year-old's performance continued to dominate the Twitter-sphere and those visiting Glastonbury.
