NeverEnding Story Atreyu star unrecognisable with tattoos after career shakeup
NeverEnding Story star Noah Hathaway, who played the role of Atreyu in the hit movie, looks totally unrecognisable decades on from starring in the flick now he is covered in tattoos and dons short hair.
Noah, who is now 51 years of age, starred in the 1984 film The NeverEnding Story as Atreyu who is the protagonist of the mysterious book that main character Bastian Bux reads. In the movie he characterised as a young green-skinned warrior from the Grassy Plain.
In the hit film, Atreyu is summoned by the Childlike Empress to save the land of Fantasia by finding a cure for her illness and given Auryn, an amulet that makes whoever wears it the Childlike Empress' herald.
Noah played the role of Atreyu in The NeverEnding Story (Warner Bros.)For his role in the movie Noah received his second Young Artist Awards nomination and also won the award for Best Younger Actor in the 12th Annual Saturn Awards. And not only was his acting praised, but his stunt work too, which came as Noah performed his own stunts in the hit film.
Speaking to TooFab in 2016, Noah said that the production was quite grueling and joked: "They tried to kill me every week. I was in the hospital every month."

Noah then said that German director Wolfgang Peterson "didn't really believe in having a stunt-double" to do much work for Noah, with him adding: "So it was just me, pretty much, throwing myself off of trees and things like that."
Since his stint in the mystical movie, Noah did act for a short while when he starred in Troll back in 1986, and then To Die, To Sleep in 1994. But his true passion lies in another form of art.

Reports from other outlets claim that Noah now works as a tattoo artist (monopolyevents/Instagram)TooFab reports that Noah has worked in Super Sport motorcycle racing and bartending, but when they spoke to him in 2016, he worked as a tattoo artist and often tattooed fans of The NeverEnding Story.
And in recent snaps shared on Instagram, Noah looks very different indeed, with him sporting tattoo sleeves on his arms and a cropped hairstyle that is worlds away from his shoulder-length bob in the movie.
One fan shared a selfie of Noah in May 2023, with the pair posing in Newcastle, England. Alongside the snap he penned: "Met the great Noah Hathaway, he is an American actor and a former teen idol! He is best known for his roles as Atreyu in the 1984 film The NeverEnding Story and for portraying Boxey on the original television series of Battlestar Galactica!! Really nice guy and amazing to meet."
In the snap Noah rocked a graphic t-shirt, a baseball cap and a huge grin. Meanwhile there is a video online of Noah greeting fans ahead of Comic Con, with the star donning similar attire that comprised of a tank top - which displayed his inked arms - and a baseball cap.
