'Surrogate parent' to missing boy found after 8 years suspected mum for ages
A woman who considered herself a surrogate parent to Rudy Farias has revealed her suspicions after it was revealed the missing man was living with his mother the whole time.
Jacque Brunswick said she became close with Rudy after his brother died in a motorcycle accident.
“Rudy was really having trouble dealing with it and was wanting help,” she said to NewsNation. “And it wasn’t just me. There was some other people that you know, we started that taking him under our wings.”
Rudy, from Houston, texas, was "missing" for eight years before his mother claimed he had remarkably been found covered in blood, cuts and bruises at the end of last month.
In the days since the story of Farias being found emerged, community activist Quanell X alleged Rudy was held at home and sexually abused by his mother.

Farias was found with blood on him (Twitter)Police in Houston said this was not the case and that Rudy's mother would not be charged, but did confirm he actually returned home on March 8, 2015.
This was just one day after he was reported missing.
Lieutenant Christopher Zamora said during a news conference that Rudy's mum Janie Santana "continued to deceive police by remaining adamant that Rudy was still missing."
After police announced that Farias had been found, Santana released a statement saying, he “is receiving the care he needs to overcome his trauma, but at this time, he is nonverbal and not able to communicate with us.” She also asked for privacy.
When he disappeared Houston police, along with Texas EquuSearch, a civilian search and recovery team, looked for the boy but found no signs of him.
When he first went missing, it was reported that he suffered from depression and anxiety, and he might have been disoriented because he wasn’t taking his medication.
He also had asthma and walked with a slight limp because of an injured right leg.
Jacque claims young Rudy, who was reported missing when he was 15, was afraid of his mother.
“He was a very timid young man, would not look at you when he spoke, especially if she was around,” she told anchor Chris Cuomo. “He would look at the ground and fidget with his hands.”
She continued: "I honestly had always thought that Janie had something to do with it, had her hands in it some way or somehow."

Jacque added: “After a couple of years I started grieving him because I truly thought that he was dead.”
Much of what happened in the eight years after March 2015 remains a mystery.
