Catherine Tyldesley has showed off her incredible two and a half stone weight loss, following the birth of her second child.

The former Coronation Street star has admitted she didn't "recognise herself" after gaining weight during her pregnancy with daughter Iris, who was born in April 2022.

The actress now feels herself again after she took on a healthy diet and exercise regime. Catherine has been keeping her fans updated with her journey and opened up about her weight loss.

Sharing a snap of herself in a crop top and leggings, the actress wrote: " She’s back!!!!! This time last year I was 2.5 stones heavier. I’d given birth a few weeks ago and didn’t recognise myself anymore.

“I suffered with hyperemesis and hormonal insomnia throughout my pregnancy. Which meant I averaged around 2 hours sleep a night for 6 months. We tried everything to help me sleep/feel better and nothing worked. I felt Dreadful.”

She added: “Whilst I was pregnant with Alfie I felt great and was weight training till I was 8 months pregnant. I felt strong and recovery was so fast. With Iris I felt so weak and vulnerable.

“Combined with two failed epidurals and needing plenty of rehabilitation for my spine and pelvis- recovery has been much longer this time.”

The mum-of-two continued: “It’s been really hard at times but for me - But - having children means I want to give them the best version of me, and I want to live for as long as I can.

“I train and eat well for me AND them. I train so I’m mentally and physically strong for whatever role I play next. I train so I can feel good about myself.

“I train to relieve stress. I train so I sleep better. It’s been worth the slog- and I’m showing up each day to maintain things- mentally and physically.”

“Mommas… I know it’s hard right now- but you CAN feel like you again. Keep going!!!! Do not give up!! Show up for yourself AND the kids.”

Celeb pal and I’m A Celebrity winner Giovanna Fletcher gushed in the comments: “back like she never left!!! What a journey! Xxxx”. While Gemma Atkinson commented with a string of praise emojis.

Following her daughter's birth, she explained to Hello! magazine her name choice, saying she played a character called Iris Moss in the BBC drama Lilies in 2007 and she had “loved it [the name] ever since”.

Iris' middle name is Ella - which is a tribute to her husband's late grandmother.

The actress, 38, who played Eva Price in the ITV soap, confirmed she was leaving the cobbles after seven years in 2018 and went on to star in Sky's Trollied and BBC's Scarborough before appearing in ITV drama Viewpoint.

Yet she hasn't ruled out a return to Corrie, telling Digital Spy if the timing was right "she'd nip back" because the show was "such a huge part of her life".
