If walking through ancient woodland along pathways dappled with sunlight makes you feel refreshed being immersed in nature, then maybe owning one could be a tempting proposition.

But for this Pembrokeshire parcel of trees and wildlife you will need to spend around £175,000, reports Wales Online.

The wood is located within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and includes areas which are designated as registered ancient woodland.

Called Haroldston Woods, the substantial 28.37 acre slice of the stunning countryside north of Broad Haven and close to the coast has been a magical place to spend time for thousands of years, enchanting generations of people from as far back as Neolithical times.

Wandering through the woodland you might happen upon a potential tumulus - a mound of earth and stones raised over a grave or graves that indicates past occupation of the land.

But this is not a forest that has evolved randomly throughout the site because during its history it was part of the Kensington estate and used for hunting in the 19th century, as well as instances of farm woodland management including a parcel of about 1.5 acres of hazel which used to be used for creating hazel hurdles for fencing.

But the most planting occurred between 1983 and 1990 according to the estate agent. The result is a mix of about 15 species of diverse native trees such as beech and ash and about 20 ornamental species including a range of redwoods.

There is an area classified as semi ancient oak and ash woodland, which has a high conservation value, as well as an old orchard including apple trees and damsons. Within the wood several memorial trees have also been planted, and the agent states that there were Blue Peter trees planted by the local school in the mid 1980s.

But most of the steep wooded valleyside is ash or sycamore and the flatter valley floor wetter areas of ash and willow. And of course, just as every perfect parcel of ancient woodland should have - Haroldston Woods has a brook flowing through it that supports the abundant wildlife that calls this enchanting location home.

Access to the land is mainly on foot via a number of permissive path routes but the agent states that the land 'may also be accessed over land forming part of Haroldston Farm via a right of way at all times with or without vehicles for the purpose of management of the retained land and collection of timber therefrom or any other forestry occupations connected therewith between the point A and B on the woodland plan'.

They added: 'This access has been previously used to manage the woodland and it has been courtesy to agree access with the farm in advance'.

The agent suggests that the land is an ideal purchase as a conservation project or for amenity users or those wishing to acquire small parcels of land as a long-term investment.

The agent goes on to say that Haroldston Woods is a wonderful piece of woodland, being rich in nature and located in a scenic location. As well as the wide diversity of trees, the woodland is home to many species of birds and small creatures and offers humans a chance to enjoy total peace and tranquillity immersed in nature at its finest.
