Popular high street chain Trespass is closing six of its shops in the UK, with one site shutting for good this weekend.

The outdoor clothing retailer has placed large "closing down sale" signs across several of its stores across the UK.

Stores set to go reportedly include Derby, Harrogate, Solihull and Canterbury.

Its store in Washington Square, Workington, will be the first to close with the final day for shoppers coming this weekend on Sunday, July 9 according to reports by Cumbriacrack.

The "everything must go" signs have confirmed the date, although Trespass has not confirmed the reason behind the closure of the Workington store.

Another Trespass site set to go is in Chesterfield, with the store located on 12 High Street set to shut its doors for good on November 18.

Again, no reason has been given as to why the site will be closing.

Birmingham Live reports that the "closing down" signs have been up in the Mell Square shop in Solihull town centre since June.

With the closure of its site in Derbion Shopping Centre in Derby, Beth McDonald, managing director of Derbion, confirmed the details of the upcoming closure of the store, with DerbyshireLive saying it was a "commercial decision taken by the store".

It was first reported that the Trespass site in Harrogate, which only opened its doors in 2018, had "closing down sale" signs in March of this year.

Although, this isn't the first time this site had put up these signs reports the Harrogate Advertiser.

The store on 18 James Street put up similar signs in 2020 however it did not become another high street victim.

It is unsure how many jobs will be affected overall by the six closures and we will update this article once we know more.

Trespass, which opened its first retail stores in the 1990s although the brand first established itself way back in the 1930s, now has more than 300 stores worldwide - the chain has around 200 in the UK.

It specialises in outdoor clothing, accessories and essentials like tents, sleeping bags and hiking gear.
