Man and woman charged with murder of two-year-old girl found dead at address

A man and a woman have been charged with murder following the death of a two-year-old girl in Ipswich.
Scott Jeff, 22, and Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell, 22, were arrested in Bury St Edmunds on July 1 following the discovery of the toddler inside a property.
Police officers had gone to the property on Sidegate Lane at just after 11.45am on Friday 30 June and on entering the premises, they discovered the body of a two-year-old girl inside.
A post-mortem has now taken place but formal identification is yet to happen.
Jeff and Gleason-Mitchell, both of no fixed address and formerly from Bedfordshire, were taken in for questioning by police and have now been charged with murder.

Suffolk Police stated: "An initial Home Office post-mortem examination was conducted this morning, Tuesday 4 July, and further tests are required. Formal identification procedures have not yet taken place.
"In the early hours of Saturday 1 July officers arrested two people in Bury St Edmunds in connection with the death.
"The pair - who are known to the victim – were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have subsequently both been charged with murder as follows: Scott Jeff, aged 22, of no fixed address - formerly of Bedfordshire, Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell, aged 22, of no fixed address - formerly of Bedfordshire.
"They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Wednesday 5 July."
The police statement continued: "A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding previous police contact with the deceased elsewhere.
"Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about this incident to contact the Major Investigation Team, using the online portal: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/363723O42-PO1 or by calling 101 quoting crime reference 37/37749/23.
"Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their online form: www.crimestoppers-uk.org."
