Girl's mum shares pain on how murdered child 'should be starting high school'

The mother of tragic Alesha MacPhail who was murdered five years ago this week says the youngster would be getting ready to start high school now.

Six-year-old Alesha was abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered by Aaron Taylor on the Isle of Bute, Scotland, on July 2, 2018.

Little Alesha had been staying with her dad and grandparents at the time when she was snatched while sleeping in her bed.

Grieving mum Georgia Lochrane has now spoken of her continued agony as she marks the milestone anniversary of the unthinkable tragedy, as she reflected on the experiences cruelly snatched from her daughter.

"Five horrible, heartbreaking years without you," said Georgia, 27, in a devastating tribute posted on page for Alesha's Beaming Smile, the charity set up in memory of the youngster.

"Not a single day goes by where we don't think about you or talk about you, Alesha.

"Our full world came crashing down five years to this date, you were ripped from our lives and our life hasn't ever been the same.

"This was your big year - you’d be finished primary and heading off to your big adventure to high school.

"You’d be turning 12 in October. Mummy had so many plans for this year for you but instead we have to celebrate your milestones in your memory now. This world is beyond cruel."

She added that her older sister "misses you loads" and was "living up to your big sister ways cause she’s amazing too".

"You're missed more than anything and loved beyond anything that can come close to describing it. Until mummy gets to see you, keep shining my beautiful girl."

Georgia previously revealed the charity had helped the family process Alesha's murder as the cause works to help other families going through bereavements.

She says their work has also helped keep Alesha's name alive.

Campbell was jailed for life with a minimum of 27 years in 2019 after being found guilty by a jury, but the sentence was later reduced to 24 years on appeal.
