John Cena made a shock appearance at Money in the Bank at the O2 in London on Saturday night - and the WWE legend wants to bring WrestleMania to London.

The 16-time world champion was not billed to star in the British capital and only makes sporadic appearances at WWE events due to his successful acting career. As such, fans inside the O2 were stunned when Cena walked out to his iconic entrance theme.

As 'The Time Is Now' started blaring out, fans jumped from their seats and cheered in pure delight. Cena's name was then beamed around the stadium before he walked out with his hands aloft. "Surprise!" shouted the wrestling icon, as fans took in the moment.

Cena continued his shock entrance at the O2 by holding up his famous "NEVER GIVE UP" towel before sprinting through the crowd and diving into the ring. "Can you believe this!?" yelled commentator Michael Cole. Not many people could, in truth.

Cole added: "The 16-time world champion.... the greatest of all time is here!"

Cena then spoke to his adoring audience. The Hollywood superstar told them: "You cheer, you chant, hell you care! In my mind, there is not a more exciting audience than the audience in the United Kingdom. So, I'm here to try to bring WrestleMania to London!"

As the crowd cheered in disbelief and delight, Cena screamed: "I struck a nerve on that one, didn't I!?"

Is John Cena the greatest WWE star of all time? Let us know in the comments below!

WrestleMania is WWE's flagship event and has never been held outside of North America before. Most of those events have been taken place in the United States, with Toronto hosting WrestleMania VI in 1990 and WrestleMania X8 in 2002.

WrestleMania is one of WWE's 'Big Five' events along with Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank. This year's Money in the Bank was the first to be held outside of the United States and the first major WWE event in London for 21 years.

Cena has become a Hollywood star during the last decade or so, appearing in films such as Trainwreck, Sisters, Daddy's Home, Bumblebee, The Suicide Squad and Fast X. He also has a role in the upcoming Barbie movie, due to be released later this month.

Cena had a little rumble with Australian Grayson Waller before leaving the O2. Chants of "who are yer?" rang around the area, as the former NXT star entered the ring and mocked Cena's performance in the 2014 animation film, Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery.

"Shut the f*** up!" fans chanted in response before Waller said: "WrestleMania in England? You've got to be kidding me man... it should go somewhere beautiful with nice weather, beaches, good looking girls in bikinis... somewhere like Australia."

The crowd called for Cena to "f*** him up" and the legend did so accordingly by producing a trademark Attitude Adjustment. Fans will now be hoping Cena achieves his aim by bringing WrestleMania to London in the near future.
