Freddie Flintoff’s family say his 'life is more important than TV' after crash
Top Gear host Freddie Flintoff's family have said his life is "more important" than being on a television show, presenter Angela Rippon has revealed.
The former cricketer, 45, was taken to hospital after being involved in an accident while shooting for the hit motoring show at the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey in December.
He was filming for the show with former host Angela, 78, at the time, who has since shed light on Freddie's family's reaction to the crash.
She revealed she sent him a text following the accident, reading: "Next time you want to go around the course a bit slower, just give me a call."
Angela presented the first episode of the show in 1977 and stayed in the role for two years.

"I was just so sorry as they [Freddie and his co-presenters] are not professional drivers and are asked to do things that even professional drivers very often would find difficult," she continued.

Last month, it was reported he was taking each day as it comes after the car crash.
He was left in agony for over 45 minutes after sustaining injuries to his jaw during the horrific incident.
BBC bosses have been accused of "failing to properly look after" Freddie.
It's claimed that Freddie became injured when he was sharing his opinion of a car he was driving for a review segment.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: "The BBC has been keen to keep a lid on the extent of Freddie's injuries for obvious reasons. The accident itself was far worse than anyone really realises — it's hard to put into words, really; what he went through is simply unimaginable.
"But essentially the car turned over at speed, and Freddie — who also broke some ribs — understandably is traumatised by the whole thing. He's been incredibly brave and stoical, and thankfully is getting stronger. He’s just taking things week by week."
The BBC had no comment on the claims, but referred back to a previous statement.

"In March we concluded our investigation into the accident at the Top Gear Test Track in Surrey, which regrettably injured presenter Freddie Flintoff," the earlier statement reads.
"We have sincerely apologised to Freddie and continue to support him with his recovery. A health and safety review of the show is underway, in line with our procedures."
