Wimbledon 2023 draw in full as Andy Murray lands nightmare second-round clash

Andy Murray will take on fellow Brit Ryan Peniston in the first round of Wimbledon with the Scot unseeded ahead of the tournament.

It meant he could've been handed any opponent first up, but has been drawn to face the wildcard. Murray, a two-time winner at the All-England club, has warmed up for the tournament with wins in the Surbiton Trophy and the Nottingham Open and may need that experience come the second round.

Should he see off Peniston then he will face either fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas or former US Open winner Dominic Thiem. Tsitsipas has struggled to make an impact on grass, but remains a classy opponent whilst Thiem is unseeded having spent periods out through injury.

Murray's fellow Brits Dan Evans, seeded 27, faces France’s Quentin Halys whilst Cam Norrie, who made the semi-finals last year, takes on Czech Tomas Machac. Other Britons have been handed tough draws as Arthur Fery takes on third seed Daniil Medvedev with George Loffhagen facing sixth seed Holger Rune.

World No 1 Carlos Alcaraz, who recently won the Cinch Championships at Queen's Club, faces veteran Frenchman Jeremy Chardy. Defending champion Novak Djokovic, eyeing an eighth Wimbleddon, which would take him level with Roger Federer, takes on Pedro Cachin.

In the women's draw defending champions Elena Rybakina will begin with a match against American Shelby Rogers. Iga Swiatek, who arrives having won the French Open in Paris, starts with against Chinese Zhu Lin.

British No 1 Katie Boulter will take on Australia’s Daria Saville in the first round at the All-England club. Heather Watson, who reached the fourth round last year, plays former French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova

Katie Swan takes on 14th seed Belinda Bencic and Sonay Kartal faces 25th seed Madison Keys. Jodie Burrage has been handed a more generous draw, beginning her Wimbledon hopes with a match against American Caty McNally.

The women's draw has thrown up some mouthwatering first round clashes with multiple champion Venus Williams facing Ukraine's Elina Svitolina. Coco Gauff, who first made her name on the grass of Wimbledon, takes on former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin.
