The mum of a woman whose body was found in a layby has paid tribute to her ‘wonderful’ daughter - as police have charged a man with her murder.

Officers discovered the remains of Sarah Henshaw just after 12am on Monday (June 26) in a layby off the westbound carriageway of the A617, close to junction 29 of the M1.

The 31-year-old was last seen at her home in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, at around 9pm on June 20.

Mum Lorraine said her daughter, herself a mum-of-two, "always put others first" in a heartbreaking tribute.

She said: “Sarah was my first-born child – and was a wonderful daughter and sister. She was also a fantastic mum to her two girls, who she loved so much.

“Sarah would always put others first and was always incredibly kind. As a family we are all devastated by her death. We miss her so much and will love her forever.”

Family friends have also paid tribute to Sarah and have set up an online fundraiser to help pay for her funeral and help Sarah’s two young daughters.

Derbyshire Police have this evening confirmed Darren Hall, 36, also of Ilkeston, has been charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (June 28).

Officers remain keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of a blue Ford Transit van, registration beginning YP16, in the early hours of Wednesday 21 June around the area of J29 of the M1 and the A617 towards Chesterfield.

Anyone who has any information that may assist our investigation is asked to contact us using the methods below and quoting incident number 444 of 23 June.
