Woman wins $50,000 while getting her nails done thanks to lottery number swap
A woman who won $50,000 while getting her nails done has revealed she was left shaking after her surprise win.
The lucky winner, who was only identified as the "Grateful Winner" from the area of Forestville, Maryland State, US, was reportedly getting a manicure when she realised she won $50,000 on the June 23 midday draw.
The federal government worker said she was so shocked after checking the tickets on her phone, that the manicurist noticed something odd had happened to her.
Excited over the win, she even dropped the winning ticket, after which the manicurist picked it up and told her to sign it on the back.
The "Grateful Winner" said in a statement: "My eyes started to water. I was shaking and I couldn't see."
Woman was 'adamant' she would win top lottery prize - then pockets $200,000She revealed she had played the 56389 combination on the Pick 5 game for more than a year before she decided to switch numbers 5 and 6.
The lucky lady said: "I just started playing that number last week and I couldn't believe it!"
"Grateful Winner" said she got the idea to swap the numbers' places after reading an earlier winner's story on the lottery website.
She told how the player had spotted a pattern in the game's former drawings, after which he rotated some of his numbers that ultimately led him to a $50,000 win on May 26.
"Grateful Winner" then began looking for similar patterns in the winning numbers and noticed that the number 6 was the first digit drawn four times from 5th to 21st June.
The grand win followed after she placed a $1 bet on the new combo for both drawings that day.
At lottery headquarters, the woman revealed she would use the money to pay the bills.
Lottery officials announced that the 7-Eleven retailer in District Heights would receive a $500 bonus for making the lucky sale.
The win comes just weeks after a woman scooped $2million on a scratchcard after she said she was sent a sign to buy the winning ticket from her dead dead.
The winner, who has not been identified, found a penny outside her home in Maryland, US, which she used to scratch off the $30 Cash is King instant ticket at the Hub City Liquors store in her home town.
