A murder investigation is under way in South London after a woman in her mid-70s was found dead on Wednesday (June 21).

The Metropolitan Police were called to an address in Ladbrook Road, Croydon, at around 10.40am, where the woman had been found deceased by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

Officers say whilst a formal identification is yet to take place, the woman's family have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course, meanwhile.

In a statement, the force's Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation but I am urging anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.

“Did you hear anything, or see someone in the area who looked out of place? Please call us.”
