Messi could be joined in MLS by former £107m teammate as "dream" move outlined
Lionel Messi's former Barcelona team-mate Antoine Griezmann has teased joining the Argentinian superstar in the MLS, admitting that playing in America is a "dream of mine".
Messi and Griezmann spent two seasons together at the Camp Nou after the Frenchman made a £107million move from Atletico Madrid. However, he spent just two full seasons at Barcelona, with both he and Messi leaving the club in 2021.
Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer after his contract expired, while Griezmann rejoined Atletico Madrid on loan. That move ultimately became permanent the following year when Griezmann signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 2026.
Messi, meanwhile, spent just two seasons at PSG and has since joined David Beckham's MLS team Inter Miami after his contract came to an end. And Griezmann is keen to join Messi in America one day.
"It's a dream of mine," he said when asked about a potential move to the MLS. "I want it to be the best possible conditions when I go there, but it's certainly an objective in the future."

Messi turned down a world-record contract offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal and a potential return to Barcelona in order to join Inter Miami. Opening up about the switch in an interview with BeinSports, Messi said: "I've achieved everything in football. There is nothing left."
Messi also recently revealed he has no plans to be part of Argentina's World Cup defence in 2026 and that individual honours are "no longer important" to him. "Does the Ballon d'Or matter to me? No, it's no longer important to me," he explained.

Inter Miami are currently without a permanent head coach after Beckham axed his former Manchester United team-mate Phil Neville earlier this month. "Phil has made a real contribution to the culture of our club with his qualities as a leader and knowledge as a coach. Sometimes in this game we have to make the toughest decisions and sadly we feel the time is right to make a change," Beckham said of the decision to sack Neville.
