Leigh-Anne Pinnock let her hair down in the early hours of Friday as she celebrated the fact her debut solo single was released.

The 31-year-old singer shot to fame back in 2011 when she appeared on The X Factor and was asked to form a band alongside Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and former member Jesy Nelson.

Now Leigh-Anne is branching out on her own and has released her first song titled Don’t Say Love which was available for fans to buy at Midnight on Friday.

And after enjoying five number one singles as a member of Little Mix, Leight-Anne was emotional and excited to see her solo effort rocked to the top of the charts when released.

Addressing her family and friends, she announced in a video that has circulated on social media: “Position number 1.

“Whatever happens after this… who gives a f**k? This moment happened. It’s number 1 on iTunes. At 1.21 in the morning.”

She then skipped and danced with her friends as music played out across the venue.

It will be a week before the official charts company will reveal if the singer has secured her first number one single.

Hours later, Leigh-Anne appeared on the Hits Radio Breakfast Show to promote her song.

Explaining how she felt releasing music without Perrie and Jade at her side, she said: “I think for me, I always said the album had to feel like an open letter.

“Everything that I couldn’t really get off my chest in the group, it is now my time to do that.

“Whether it’s like my relationship, things that I experienced in the group, everything I guess.”

She went on to confess she did feel pressure to perform well.

She said: “I’m just on a cloud. There’s just so much going on and it’s all good stuff and the reception has been amazing. I was just so petrified as well.

“There’s so many expectations for all of us coming out of something for so long, like on our own, but I’m just so proud of it. I love it and I’m excited.”

Little Mix was formed after Leigh-Anne and her three eventual bandmates auditioned on The X Factor as solo performers.

They were later grouped together after failing to progress past bootcamp as solo singers and then went on to become the first group to ever win the series.

They released six albums before Jesy quit the band in 2020 and the other three continued on without her.

Little Mix then released a greatest hits album in 2021 and announced they were going on hiatus the following year in order to pursue solo careers.

Jesy had previously released a solo single titled Boyz, but it sparked a furious backlash as her music video provoked accusations of cultural appropriation and her debut solo album was later shelved.
