Paul O' Grady's husband says dogs 'miss him' in emotional tribute on birthday

Paul O'Grady's husband has paid tribute to the late star on what would have been his 68th birthday.

The Lily Savage performer died in March "unexpectedly but peacefully", leaving Andre Portasio bereft.

The couple married in 2017 after meeting in 2006 and now dancer Andre has opened up about how much he misses the talented comedian.

Sharing a snap of Paul with a huge birthday cake, he said: "HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY. Myself and dogs miss you lots and we can only wish you were here with us. Love you always @paulogrady."

Andre's post was met with a flurry of well wishes from fans, including one, who replied: "Happy birthday to the kindest funniest guy I had the pleasure of watching xx forever in are hearts."

Paul 's husband sadly announced more bad news following the death of the late TV star.

Andre and the Life of Dogs presenter shared their farmhouse home in Kent with many rescued animals.

However, sadly their pet goats, Maleficent and Beebo, recently died on the same day.

Posting a photo of Paul on Instagram with the animals, Andre wrote: “Bad news that keeps on coming... a very sad day at our house @paulogrady goats Maleficent and Beebo have both passed away today.”

"It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening," Andre shared at the time.

"We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.

"He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.

"I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."

Paul had previously joked he was 'counting his blessings' in regards to his health and said it would be a 'miracle' if he reached 60.

He died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia after previously suffering three heart attacks, with the first happening in 2002 when he was in his 40s.

The star also spoke about knowing that smoking was contributing to his ailing health, once quipping: "I've always said I have two great loves, Benson and Hedges, so it's not been easy quitting."
