Aaron Ramsey has hinted he could return to Britain this summer as a free agent after admitting to missing his family while away playing in France.

The Nice midfielder cannot wait to be reunited with wife Colleen and his boys Sonny, who was born in 2015, and twins Tomas and Teddy, who were born in 2017. Ramsey will be back this week in his native Cardiff on international duty captaining Wales.

He led out the national team with Sonny as a mascot in Wales' last game in March against Latvia at home, which they won 1-0. His family will be in the stands again on Friday when Wales host Armenia in Euro 2024 qualifying looking to build on a promising start to Group D.

Ex- Arsenal and Juventus ace Ramsey, 32, who went on loan in 2022 to Rangers, missed them badly while in France, where he made 34 appearances this term in the final year of his contract. Ramsey, who has 80 caps and 20 goals, admitted: “I’m not sure what my future is at the moment.

“We will find out in a few weeks’ time when everything has settled down. This season has been a success for me personally, I have played a lot of games.

“The most challenging thing is being away from my family. Being away from my family and the kids growing up and missing out on certain things is always difficult.

“It is difficult for anybody to go through I imagine. Whatever we do going forwards, we will be reunited and back together.

“It will be huge to have them there and my friends on Friday. I walked out with my eldest in the last match which was a really proud moment for me and to be able to share that was special.

“They are always there for me and whenever I represent Wales I am really excited to do that and play in front of them.”

Nice may yet offer Ramsey a new deal but they are still finalising plans for next season as British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whose company INEOS took over in 2019, is bidding against Sheikh Jassim of Qatar for control of Manchester United. Ramsey feels his form has been good enough but he admits he is keen to add to his solitary goal this term back in August.

He added: “The only thing I have been missing is a few goals but that will come. Hopefully, I can get on the scoreboard in the next few games, that would be really nice but I will take a win however we do it."
