There were wild scenes in Manchester on Saturday night as ecstatic fans of Manchester City celebrated their team's Champions League triumph on the city's streets.

Midfielder Rodri scored a stunner with 22 minutes to go to ensure Pep Guardiola's men defeated Inter Milan to seal an historic treble.

Supporters subsequently flooded the city centre with some setting off flares in Piccadilly Gardens following the 1-0 victory over the Italian team in Istanbul.

As police descended on the revellers to make sure proceedings ran without incident, one excited fan leapt onto the roof of a bus stop to get a better view of the carnival-like atmosphere.

One man was arrested for damage with a dramatic photo showing officers wrestling him to the ground.

A police vehicle was also smashed in the city centre amid all the excitement.

Some took the celebrations to the club's Etihad Stadium, whilst the Love Factory fan zone on Dantzic Street where thousands had congregated all day continued to be a hive of activity long after full time.

There, the final whistle was met with giant inflatables being launched into the crowd whilst pints of beer were seen being thrown in the air as fear turned to ecstasy.

The MEN reported on Instagram that there was a sense of pandemonium at Mary D's - the favoured haunt of City fans just opposite the stadium.

Fans reportedly climbed on tables, and threw drinks across the bar in delight, whilst at Mayfield Depot, ticker tape was let off as others looked on in a mixture of disbelief and elation.

With parties continuing long into the night, a huge trophy parade was confirmed for Monday evening.

The club tweeted: "We will be celebrating our Treble with an open-top bus parade through Manchester city centre on Monday. Can't wait to see you all there!

"Further details will follow tomorrow."

Manchester council tweeted: "Congratulations to @ManCity on completing the treble!

"To celebrate this historic season, a parade will take place on Monday evening - details about the parade will be shared on Sunday."

"We extend our congratulations on behalf of the city to the club and its fans.

"We're sure the parade will be a joyous and unforgettable occasion as fans gather in the city centre to celebrate with the team a success which will resonate around the world and showcases once again Manchester's huge sporting legacy."
