14 Champions League final predictions as Man City v Inter gets landslide verdict

It is a date that could end up going down in Manchester football history.

If Manchester City get the better of Inter Milan to win the Champions League for the first time and complete this season's treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Europe's top prize then June 10, 2023 will always be the day that City finally equalled Manchester United's historic feat of 1999.

But will Pep Guardiola's men get the job done in Istanbul?

We asked our best and brightest to give us their predictions for the game, and it is safe to say that there was something of a theme which developed...

Something tells me Pep will be a little more cautious than normal – making it a nervy night – but his men will eventually wear Inter down.

David McDonnell: Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 0

Manchester City are favourites for a reason and they will show why with a comfortable win tonight to finally conquer Europe.

Inter’s game plan will be to nullify City’s attacking threat, but with Kevin De Bruyne pulling the strings and Erling Haaland leading the line, City will ultimately prove too strong.

Gideon Brooks: Manchester City 4 Inter Milan 0

Inter had a charmed life in the knockout stages, finished 18 points off Napoli in Serie A and are not even a watertight Italian outfit.

They won’t know what hits them.

Jeremy Cross: Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 0

This will be a test of Manchester City’s patience in a game of attack versus defence.

City will dominate possession, while Inter will attempt to disrupt their opponents. But City have too much quality in attack for them not to be stopped.

John Cross: Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 1

This feels like a date with destiny for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola.

English teams have got more physicality and intensity than their Italian counterparts – and City will be far too strong for Inter.

Neil Squires:Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 0

Inter are a well-organised unit but if City can score early – maybe not 13 seconds early, but in the first half – this final is only going one way.

If Inter have to come out and chase the game, City will pick them off.

Jake Murtagh: Manchester City 2 Inter Milan 0

This is City’s time. Pep Guardiola’s men will prove too strong for their Italian opponents.

The Italians may prove difficult to break down but City have too many attacking options for Inter to cope with.

Alan Smith: Manchester City 2 Inter Milan 0

There will be no curveball selection from Guardiola this time - and the presence of a midfield and a striker, both absent in the final two years ago, will ensure a comfortable night.

Nathan Ridley: Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 1

For however good they’ve been since springtime, City seem to always find a way of conceding.

Inter might even score first and give us a brief spell of jeopardy, but it’s hard to imagine the feeling lasting.

Will Freeman: Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 1

Inter are a highly capable cup side, with successive Coppa Italia wins to their name and know how to approach a final, this could see them frustrate City.

Despite this, with an ageing squad in the face of City's brilliance, it could be tough for them in the latter stages of the match.

Dan Marsh: Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 0

Lightning doesn't strike twice and I don't see any way that Manchester City leave Istanbul without the trophy they covet above all others.

For my money, Pep Guardiola's team were already the best team in Europe even before they signed Erling Haaland, who should punctuate his record-breaking season with a goal or two against Inter Milan. Victory on Saturday will confirm what most of us already knew.

Josh O'Brien: Manchester City 2 Inter Milan 0

Given this is the one that matters most to City, I can see some early jitters before a second-half Erling Haaland header sends Pep Guardiola's men on their way.

Another late on as Inter push for an equaliser will be enough to get City over the line.

Daniel Orme: Manchester City 2 Inter Milan 0

Manchester City are a different beast in the Champions League this season and should have far too much for an ageing Inter Milan side.

Pep Guardiola will finally end his 12-year wait for another victory in the competition.

Mark Jones: Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 0

Guardiola craves control, we know that, and sometimes that craving can lead to him doing some daft things. Porto two years ago, for example.

He's evolved since then though, and he'll know that if he keeps control of this match then a win is almost inevitable. An early goal, two late ones, history.
