Richarlison hits back at Wilson and Antonio after being brutally mocked
Richarlison has fired back at Callum Wilson and Michail Antonio after being mocked by the pair for his performances in a Tottenham shirt since his move from Everton.
The Brazilian joined Spurs for £60million from the Toffees last summer but has failed to impress during his debut season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Richarlison has scored just one Premier League goal in 27 appearances - adding a further two in all competitions.
He hasn't been helped by Harry Kane's incredible form, while Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski have both been preferred out wide. This meant Richarlison has often had to settle for a place on the bench, with January arrival Arnaut Danjuma also struggling for game time in recent months.
But Richarlison has been unfortunate in front of goal. Most recently, the Brazil international took his shirt off after scoring a 93rd-minute equaliser against Liverpool, only for Jurgen Klopp's side to score moments later. He also scored against Fulham and Nottingham Forest - but both were ruled out for offside.
Speaking on The Footballer's Football Podcast, Antonio and Wilson could barely contain their laughter. "He's scored four times this season," Antonio began. "Three of the times he's been offside [and] he's taken his top off four times this season." Wilson added: "He's got four yellows – he's almost on a suspension."
Antonio Conte to undergo surgery after Spurs boss became unwell with severe painThe video has been doing the rounds on social media and Richarlison has since responded to the pair, issuing a rather brutal comeback. Commenting on the clip on TikTok, he wrote: "How many goals do you both have in the World Cup?", followed by an embarrassed face emoji.
Richarlison impressed for Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar as Tite opted to play him over Gabriel Jesus. He scored twice in the opening group stage game against Serbia, including one audacious bicycle kick, before netting once and providing an assist against South Korea in the last-16.
However, Richarlison and Brazil failed to turn up against Croatia and bowed out in the quarter-final, losing 5-3 on penalties. After the win over South Korea, Richarlison met Ronaldo and was in awe. "I feel emotional to see him," Richarlison explained to the camera. "Because he is my idol, just like Neymar. For me you were a childhood inspiration," he added, turning to Ronaldo.
"I think you’ve already seen a lot of photos of me with that hairstyle. What I did for you, to inspire you, now it’s your turn," said Ronaldo. "You inspire millions of Brazilians, millions of kids in Brazil with your art, your goals, the joy with which you play, your spontaneity, your feelings. You are a source of pride for us. We are supporting you a lot. It was a beautiful strike today."
