Amanda Holden has been slammed after she hit out at "wokery" and "snowflakes" on Britain's Got Talent this evening.

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda, 52, made the dig as she gave feedback to contestant Markus Birdman during the live semi-final episode.

Comedian Markus' performance, which received a red buzzer from Simon Cowell and a lukewarm reception from the live audience, saw him discuss his daughter, his stroke and more.

In Markus' set, he joked: "You don’t know fatherly pride until you see your then-13 year old daughter play a ‘lady of the night’ and absolutely nail it."

The lady of the night is a euphemism for a prostitute.

While some of Markus' jokes didn't seem to get a big laugh from the audience, Amanda praised the comedian and took the opportunity to take aim at "snowflakes".

She said: "For all the snowflakes and all the wokery and everything else that's out there I applaud you because this is the way forward, not the other way."

Wokery is defined as "a way of referring to the acts and opinions of people who are especially aware of social problems such as racism and inequality, used by people who do not approve of these acts and opinions", according to Cambridge Dictionary.

While a snowflake is described as "a very sensitive person".

Amanda's comment received criticism from viewers on Twitter as one wrote: "Amanda Holden on Britain's Got Talent channelling Hughie Green by sounding like a right wing nutjob, decrying "snowflakes and wokery"."

Another added: "Does Amanda Holden want a job on GB News? Throwing "wokery" and "snowflakes" into the critique of a comedian #BGT".

"Amanda Holden calling out “snowflakes and wokery” on #BGT give me a BREAK," a third penned.

And a fourth wrote: "‘All the wokery’ Amanda Holden quickly reminding me why I can’t stand her tbh".

It isn't the first time Amanda has received criticism of this kind. She was on the receiving end of angry backlash in March as she said the late Paul O'Grady "wasn't woke in any way".

Discussing Paul's death at age 67 earlier this year, she said to her co-host Jamie Theakston, 52, that she was "completely shocked". She went on to share her thoughts about Paul.

She commented on the show: "Do you know what I loved about him? He was not woke in any way. He had massive opinions on everything, which I love people like that."

Amanda – who's an ambassador for animal charity Battersea Cats & Dogs Home, like Paul was – added: "Really really funny, very witty. Everything that came out of his mouth was brilliant".

Some listeners took issue with her comment and questioned whether she knows the meaning of the term 'woke' and whether she knew much about Paul's life.

One person tweeted: "Either [Amanda] has no idea what 'woke' means, or she has no idea who Paul O'Grady was".

Another said: "'He didn't have a woke bone in his body'. That would be the drag artist, AIDS campaigner, LGBTQ+ hero and anti austerity critic Paul O'Grady."

A third tweeted: "The man was a queer activist, trailblazer and unapologetic drag queen on prime time TV when being gay was seen as dirty. What about that isn't woke?"
