Nintendo has released the second Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom patch which has finally put an end to the extremely popular duplication glitch

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players have been able to cheat the Hyrule economy since the game first launched, discovering a duplication glitch shortly after release and quickly finding an even faster way to dupe items. Armed with this knowledge, you could clone almost any item in the game. However, this is sadly no more with the arrival of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Patch 1.1.2.

This glitch could be used in ways that don't exactly break the game, like grabbing some more bombs or the odd item. However, the number one item to duplicate was diamonds, an extremely rare material which sells for 500 rupees a pop, meaning players could become filthy rich extremely fast, being able to buy all of the best Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom armour sets with rupees to spare.

We thought the glitch was safe when Nintendo neglected to patch it out in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Patch 1.1.1, but as any old crime movie will tell you, things catch up with you eventually. Now players will have to perform the horrific task of interacting with the games economy the old fashioned way (terrifying!). As far as we can tell, any duplicated items you made pre-patch will remain in your inventory post-patch so you can sell off any diamonds you made beforehand.

Plus if you turned auto updates off you're still free to cheat as you please, we won't tell Nintendo. Although you may mess up your game in other ways if you neglect to do so.

Nintendo had released the full details of the patch on it's support website, revealing that the patch also fixed some lingering issues with the game, such as a bug where the sound would play at an extremely high volume, and a bug that prevented progress in the 'Camera Work in the Depths' quest.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom patch notes

Here's the full list of patch notes for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom patch 1.1.2. You'll want to strap in for the long haul here as they're quite lengthy.

Audio Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the sound would play at an extremely high volume in certain conditions.

Additional Fixes

  • Fixed an issue in the main quest, “Camera Work in the Depths”, where players could not progress beyond a certain point. Downloading the update will allow players to proceed past that point.
  • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

And that's your lot! Nintendo – as open as ever – doesn't go into detail as to what those several issues are although obviously the duplication glitches make up a part of that. Although knowing the Zelda community, I'm sure several other glitches will be discovered by the end of the week.
