Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr's undisputed welterweight title fight has been officially announced for July 29.

The long-awaited fight has been discussed for years and both parties have finally come to an agreement after negotiating a deal for months. The 147lb undisputed clash will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as Spence puts the IBF, WBA and WBC belts on the line whilst Crawford puts up his WBO title.

Both fighters reacted to the official announcement on social media as Crawford tweeted: "It's on!" whilst Spence wrote on Instagram : "Finally giving the fans what they want. This one a throwback fight on paper but it could be a one sided a**s whooping one of the biggest fight of the century!"

Crawford looks to become a two-weight undisputed champion in the fight as he vacated his four light-welterweights in 2018 for a move up in weight. 'Bud' captured the WBO world title in his first fight at welterweight against Jeff Horn and has since defended it against the likes of Kell Brook and Amir Khan. The 35-year-old has only been fighting once a year as he knocked out Shawn Porter in 2021 and also stopped David Avanesyan in his lone fight last December.

Spence first captured a world title at 147lb by stopping Brook in 2017 and he added a second belt to his collection two years later with a split decision win against Porter. Much like his Crawford, 'The Truth' hasn't been very active in recent years as he took almost 18-months off after beating Danny Garcia in 2020 to return last April with a stoppage win against Yordenis Ugas.

Crawford, who was signed with Top Rank but became a free agent after beating Porter, has seemingly signed a two-fight deal with promotional company Premier Boxing Champions. This is because there is also a bidirecitonal rematch clause in place which either Crawford or Spence can trigger within 30 days of the first fight and the rematch will have to happen before the end of 2023, according to ESPN's Mike Coppinger.

Both Crawford and Spence are set to earn eight-figures each from the undisputed fight, which will take place on Showtime pay-per-view in the US. The undisputed clash has also put Spence's plans to move up a weight class on hold, as he looked set for a super-welterweight move to face Keith Thurman.
