Strictly Come Dancing reportedly won't be recasting for a replacement for Amy Dowden in the hope that she could be well enough to make an incredible return.

The pro dancer yesterday revealed she has grade 3 breast cancer at the age of 32.

Amy has also battled stomach condition Crohn's Disease since she was young and recently admitted she has already been through 'quite a lot' in her life.

Amy admits she doesn't know if she'll be able to take the ballroom floor again on the BBC show.

But telly bosses aren't looking to replace her any time soon, it has been reported.

The devastated dancer found a lump in her breast before heading off on her honeymoon with husband Ben Jones in April.

She shared her diagnosis on Instagram but Strictly execs are clearly hopeful for the future.

"They won't be recasting a replacement for Amy and even if she isn't well enough to take part in a full series, they'll strive to have her back showcasing her amazing skills in some form," an insider told The Sun.

"That might be in the form of a performance with other pros or even this year's Christmas special.

"Either way the door remains open for her to return at a time and manner of her choosing."

The show is clearly backing Amy as she begins her recovery and 'keep the door open' for her potential return.

If her health improves, she may return for special episodes when the programme hits screens again in September.

She told fans on Wednesday: "I've got some news which isn't easy to share.

"I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I am determined to get back on that dance floor before you know it. Welsh love Amy X."

Amy, from Caerphilly, South Wales, watched her mum suffer from cancer from a young age.

In a more hopeful post last night, she wrote: "This feeling performing is like no other! The emotion, excitement, adrenaline and I can't wait for it again.

"It feeds my souls! Thank u for every single comment and message today! It means so much to me and my incredible family I'm so lucky to be surrounded by! Thank you."
