Tina Turner beamed with pride whilst giving an acceptance speech for a prestigious award in what's now believed to have been her final public appearance before her death.

It was announced earlier this evening that the acclaimed singer died at her home in Switzerland today, aged 83, with the news shared via a statement.

The sad news has prompted an outpouring of tributes paid to the Grammy Award winner, who's known for songs like The Best, Proud Mary and What's Love Got to Do with It.

Tina is said to have formally retired some years ago – saying her 'farewell' to fans in a documentary – and appears to have largely kept out of the spotlight in the final years of her life, though she did make some appearances and gave two poignant interviews before her death.

The footage – seemingly filmed sometime around the awards ceremony – showed Tina beaming as she expressed pride over having received such recognition in her eighties.

She teased in her speech: "If they're still giving me awards at 81, I must have done something right." Tina also remarked: "I'm very happy to have this and to achieved this".

The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll – who had previously been inducted as a duo with her then-husband Ike Turner in 1991 – shared a photo from the filming of the speech on Instagram to mark the occasion.

Just months earlier, Tina shared a photo of herself on social media in March that year, which featured in a post marking the upcoming release of her documentary Tina.

The caption had accompanied a photo of Tina stood in front of a TV whilst seemingly watching the film – which was released days later – and showed her posing for a photo.

According to the Sun, she was last seen out in person in November 2019 though when the singer attended the opening night of her jukebox musical Tina in New York City.

Her death was announced earlier this evening, with a statement shared on her Instagram account paying tribute by saying that she had "enchanted millions of fans".
