Football fans have spotted a glaring issue alongside an enormous mural of an ex Liverpool player on the side of a block of flats.

A 20ft mural of Roberto Firmino was painted on the side of a supporter's flat in Rockfield Road in Anfield following his decision to end his eight-year stint with the Reds.

But Everton fans were quick to spot a huge distraction alongside the stunning image - namely a defiant message of their own club.

On social media, one fan spotted that there was an Everton sticker in the window featuring the club's Latin motto Nil Satis Nisi Optimum, which means "nothing but the best is good enough", as well as the Everton crest.

Neighbours said the man who lives in the flat was unhappy after plans for the mural were announced, reports the Liverpool ECHO.

The mural has been painted onto a large house which has been converted into five flats. When the ECHOvisited the street this morning, the sun was shining and tourists were taking photos.

The ECHO understands the sticker was put in the window long before the mural went up, and was not posted in retaliation. Since the sticker was spotted it has been shared across social media.

Fan group Rainbow Toffees posted on Twitter: "Firmino’s mural is painted on an Everton fan's house. I’d be fuming."

Firmino's Anfield swansong came on Saturday afternoon when Aston Villa made the trip to L4, with emotional scenes and a lap of honour coming after the final whistle of the 1-1 draw.

The Brazilian, who has made over 300 appearances under Klopp, will be joined by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner who are also leaving when their contracts expire.
