McDonald's is trialling a new budget range of Savers Meals at some of its stores from today.

The range includes three different burgers which come with both a side and a drink and will have an overall cost of under a fiver.

The trial will include the Single Cheeseburger, Mayo Chicken or Double Cheeseburger.

The Cheeseburger and Mayo Chicken Saver Meals will be priced at £3.99, with the Double Cheeseburger at £4.79.

The deal will be trialled at around 120 restaurants across the South East of the country from Wednesday, February 15 to May 9.

This means you have 12 weeks to check out what the Saver Meals menu has to offer.

If proven to be successful, the fast food giant will likely roll out the new Saver Meals menu at all of its stores in the country.

Currently, the chain has over 1,200 branches of its restaurant across the UK.

The fast-food chain already offers other time-limited deals including freebies for new app users, but the Savers Meals will be an added extra.

The new menu must not be confused with its already very popular "Saver Menu" which includes only individual menu items such as the McDonald's Cheeseburger, Hamburger, Medium Fries, Side Salad and Chicken Mayo and Backon Mayo chicken.

This may be good news to McDonald's fans however, the chain has launched the saver menu at the same time as it increases prices in its restaurants.

McDonald's announced a new recommended retail price for five of its popular menu items due to the Cost of Living crisis.

In an email to customers this morning, McDonald's said it was to up the price of its Mayo Chicken, Bacon Mayo Chicken, Bacon Double Cheeseburger, and Triple Cheeseburger.

It will also up the price of a medium carbonated drink.

Due to the chain being franchised, each McDonald's branch is free to set its own prices - except on the saver menu, where different franchises tend to charge the same amount.

So these increases will vary across different restaurants as McDonald's cannot order a franchise to introduce increases.

In a statement, a McDonald's spokesperson told the Mirror: “We are committed to offering great tasting food at affordable prices. However, like many businesses, the impact of the increase in food and energy costs continues to affect our company and our franchisees."

"We carefully review and adjust pricing to offer great value and quality.

"At the same time, we continue to work hard on how we can provide our customer's value where it matters most, with personalised offers and rewards through the MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme."

Full list of increases:

  1. Mayo Chicken: 99p to £1.19
  2. Bacon Mayo Chicken: £1.59 to £1.79
  3. Bacon Double Cheeseburger: £2.49 to £2.69
  4. Triple Cheeseburger: £2.69 to £2.89
  5. Medium Carbonated Drink: £1.39 to £1.49
