A British businessman pinned down a stewardess against the cockpit door and pushed another after he was refused a vegetarian dinner.

Robert David Croizat attacked both attendants after learning that vegetarian meals were only served in first class.

Croziat was on an American Airlines flight from Barbados to Miami on March 8 when he tried to storm the cockpit to complain about the service, court documents show.

Croizat was arrested and pleaded guilty to misdemeanour assault at the Miami Federal Court on May 10.

Croziat thought a steward has been rude to him and "voiced his displeasure that only vegetarian meal options were available in the first-class cabin", according to court documents.

He admitted he had two drinks and then "aggressively, demandingly, and loudly ordered the flight attendants to 'get the captain out here'".

Croziat then got up and pushed a stewardess twice before heading to the cockpit where he pinned another against the door.

The complaint read that he was asked to sit down but "refused to comply and pushed [the second flight attendant] FA 2, briefly pinning her against the cockpit door", according to documents seen by the New York Post.

Another passenger forced Croziat back in his seat.

The crew then put a card between the cabin and the cockpit.

Court documents say: "The captain called air traffic control to report the incident during the flight, informing air traffic control that there was an attempted breach of the cockpit."

Croizat had travelled to Miami, Florida, to spend five days with his son and ahead of his appearance he asked to return home saying Airbnbs in Miami were expensive.

His request was denied.

Barry Wax, defending, told the Daily Beast Croizat's behaviour sounded worse than it was and described the incident as an "argument".

The Mirror contacted American Airlines for comment.
