Lottery winner who bagged $207m jackpot is sued by co-workers who'd never played
A lucky man who won an incredible $207million on a Mega Millions ticket in a lotto pool was sued by a group of disgruntled co-workers - who have never played the game.
Scott Bradley was one of 14 city employees who won the jackpot in December 2008 - with each person going on to take home $5.5 million after taxes.
But four co-workers who didn't make it into the lottery pool as they weren't at work or decided not to play, decided to sue.
"Some of them in the lawsuit have never played," said Scott. "But it's tough when you're standing on the dock watching the ship sail away so you try to latch onto something."
The lottery winning group won their case, thanks to good record keeping.

Lawyers have weighed in on the case and advise players to start by photocopying the ticket before the drawing and then either handing out or displaying copies in the office.

"A sign up sheet lets everybody know that you've signed in you paid your money. That's sort of an implied contract," he said to 10WBNS.
That's exactly what Scott's group did which means they avoided a potential nightmare and can go on and live a life most can only dream of.
Scott, from Piqua, Ohio, said after his win: "We bought a couple houses.
"The one came with 68 acres so it's nice to have the land to roam on and ride 4-wheelers. We also have several ponds that we fish in."

But lawyers for the winners said the suit should be dismissed based on evidence, which included record keeping described as "meticulous" by one winner.
A trial was scheduled for October 2009, but the lawsuit was ultimately dismissed in September 2009.
Lawyers for the co-workers who missed out said they were "considering all of their options" at the time.

Lawyers for the winners said they were "very pleased" with the outcome and hoped that the dismissal would be the end of it.
The winners were: Kenny Kirby, John Dembski, Donnelly, James Montgomery, Cynthia Hershberger, Ritchie Williams, Scott Bradley, Dennis Steinke, Loyal Davis Jr., Rodney Stephenson, Jolaine Routson, Arthur J. Rudy, Amos Steinbrunner, Clifford Scott Helman and Thomas Hill.
Hill was retired and related to one of the winners.
The lottery drawing took place on December 12, 2008, with the lawsuit being filed on December 23.
Nine months later, it had been dismissed by the clients themselves.
