Woman wins huge payout after living with stone in eye for more than 50 years
A woman who has lived with a stone in her eye for more than 50 years has won a payout after claiming she was fobbed off by over 20 different doctors.
Domi was just eight-years-old in 1965 when she was playing with a hoe in a field, struck a rock and a piece of stone flew into her eye, causing serious bleeding.
She was taken to the local doctor who allegedly fobbed her off.
Over the years, Domi, now 62, said she has seen over 20 doctors who all dismissed her situation as nothing to worry about, with some even questioning her mental health.
Between the ages of 14 and 18, Domi said her eye calmed down, but her visits to the doctors have always been regular.

She suffered a painful episode in her eye when she was 28 years old, but claims her doctor doubted her mental health.
Domi was just 8 when he stone hit her (Jam Press)In 1996, medics carried out an ultrasound and CT scan. The ophthalmologist detected something strange, but considered it to be a cyst.
The stone was finally discovered and removed in 2019 during a surgical intervention in Badajoz, southwest of Madrid, Spain.
She said: “We went through over 20 doctors and they all treated me like I was crazy.
“Each one analysed the report of the previous doctor and acted based on that.
“I used to leave their office in tears.”
The stone in her eye (Jam Press)After the stone was removed, Domi launched legal proceedings against the Extremadura Health Service.
She explained: “In 2019, during a surgical procedure in Badajoz, they removed the stone.
“It was then that I filed a complaint and took the appropriate legal action.”
Domi said she spent 54 years feeling “terrible” before the object was finally removed from her eye.

The whole situation was recently brought to a close when a court in Cáceres ruled that the Secretary of State for Security (SES) of Spain has to pay her 90,000 euros - about £78,000 - in compensation.
