Open up the southwest region of the map in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with this easy method of activating the one of the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower

Skyview Towers serve a better purpose in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom than they ever did in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. No longer are they solely a method of revealing sections of Hyrule's map; they also now offer a handy method of traversal by shooting Link up into the air and letting him drift, glide and dive to pretty much any location in sight (providing you have the stamina). Some towers are harder to reach and activate than others, however, with one in particular being a bit of a nuisance.

Tears of the Kingdom Gerudo Tower is likely one of the last sections of Hyrule you’ll want to visit. This is because its dungeon is one of the hardest to complete, and the other three are in closer proximity to one another in the north. Even just entering the desert-like land of Gerudo forces you to undertake a pop quiz of sorts, answering questions about how to survive and keep cool in its dry dunes, before a bystander will eventually let you pass.

When you do gain access to Gerudo you’ll want to activate its relevant Skyview Tower, and we have the solution for you.

Before you can activate the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower you’ll of course want to know how to reach it. This is a tad tricky to pull off seeing as the Gerudo Desert region will remain blank on your map until it’s activated. But, if you head towards the southwest and are still having trouble seeing it from a distance, you can easily locate it by opening the map on Link’s Purah Pad and dropping a pin at these exact co-ordinates: -2430, -2177, 0307. Head that way and you’ll soon see the tower.

How to activate Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower

Once you’re at the base of the mountain ridge that the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower sits on, you’ll want to speak to Sawson who will tell you that he’s having trouble getting the elevator moving. This won’t do, because without him reaching the tower he won’t be able to fix it and let you go inside. Luckily, this is where you come in.

To activate Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower you’ll need to provide a counter weight to the elevator system (off to the side surrounded by scaffolding) using the collection of crafting supplies that’s located right next to the tower itself.

Using the metal crates and placing them on the rightside platform is your best bet – it should take about three or four. Once the right platform has been lowered enough using the weight from the metal cubes, the left-side platform with Sawson stood on it should hopefully have made its way up enough for you to grab it using Link’s Ultrahand ability.

Simply pull the platform up the remaining distance. Sawson will thank you and proceed to fix the tower, which will let you step inside. Voila! You have activated the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower.
