Kelly Brook says career 'isn't about my body anymore' as she embraces her curves

Kelly Brook has been known for her famous curves since she burst on to the modelling scene in the late Nineties.

She quickly became a lads’ mag pin up in her 20s and her fame took her all the way to Hollywood.

Now 43, Kelly presents a show on Heart Radio and has re-established herself as a broadcaster.

Although she admits she fears being cancelled on a daily basis, she’s happier on the airwaves than she was in front of the camera.

And she says she has learned to accept the body that made her famous is different to what it once was – and she’s OK with that.

Curvier these days and a size 12, Kelly says she didn’t have to work for the body she had in her 20s.

In a new interview with The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, she shared that although she doesn’t put pressure on herself, she feels some people still expect her to look a certain way.

She said: “When you’re the pin-up in your 20s and 30s, and being cast in movies where you’re in a bikini, you’re ‘that’ girl.

“But I’m 43 now. I’m not the 23-year-old bikini model on a beach in a B movie. It was fun to be that girl, I loved it, but I didn’t have to work for that body. It was just my body.

“I used to eat and drink whatever I wanted. All 20-year-olds look cute, don’t they? No wrinkles, lovely skin, all toned – but I’m not there anymore. I’m something else now and that’s fine.”

Kelly’s weight has yo-yoed in recent years and she was a size 16 before losing 2 stone with a SlimFast plan.

Now in her early 40s, she says her ‘whole body has changed’ and she chooses not to be defined by it like she was in her early career.

“Over the past five years, I’d like to think that I’ve reintroduced and re-established myself in the industry as a broadcaster and presenter and someone who talks for a living,” Kelly said.

“So it’s not really about my body or any of that stuff anymore.”

Although Kelly admits she ‘loves naughty food’, she revealed she can’t drink alcohol any more as she doesn’t have the tolerance for it.

Her limit these days is one glass of wine with dinner as she reveals her body is forcing her to make healthier choices.

Her own weight loss journey has led her to work with SlimFast UK - and she has formed an unlikely friendship with rapper Big Narstie.

The pair are fronting the brand’s Oomph For Your Boomph campaign, which kicks off on May 14.

SlimFast UK and Ireland Marketing Director Clafoutie Sintive said: “Our big, bold campaign with its uplifting tone is an unapologetic affirmation of celebrating your best self. We have two ambassadors with their different needs to help connect with consumers who are at various stages of their own weight management journey.

“Big Narstie with his larger than life personality and confidence who is looking to lose weight over the long term, and Kelly Brook who is continuing to successfully maintain her weight and living her best life.”
