Emmerdale star Amy Walsh is heading back to the Dales, as she returns to filming.

Amy - who plays Tracy Metcalfe on the soap - departed the soap in scenes aired in January 2022 for her maternity leave, with Tracy heading away from the village to accept a new job offer leaving Nate devastated.

She returned back briefly for the show's 50th anniversary in October last year but at the time confirmed she wasn't ready for a permanent return just yet after welcoming her and Toby Alexander Smith's first child.

In news that will no doubt delight soap fans, she is back - as she revealed she was finding it tough.

Sharing a snap of her with her little one, she wrote alongside it: "Morning snuggles before mama goes to work this morning. For all the parents out there going back to work and leaving their babies... stay strong, we've got this."

She later showed some photos of her Roxy Shahidi, who plays Leyla Cavanagh, doing some yoga in their lunch break, adding: "Throwing down on our lunch break just like the old days was the highlight of my day #yogabuddies #likenotimehaspassed."

Back in October, Amy said she was glad to return to the soap to mark such a milestone.

She said: "It was lovely to be invited back for the 50th. When I was going on maternity leave, executive producer Jane Hudson, mentioned it was all happening around August and September.

"She said if I wanted to be a part of it to let her know but when it came to it I just wasn’t ready to come back full time. She very kindly offered to write me in and back out again so I didn’t have to cut my maternity leave short but I still didn’t miss out on the 50th celebrations so it was win-win! It’s been really lovely seeing everyone again."

Amy explained how nice it was to be go back - and bring Bonnie with her.

"Being able to bring Bonnie into work to meet everyone as we’re based in London now, so haven’t been back before now. It’s also lovely to be back with all the covid restrictions finally lifted as it was very different the last time I was here. So it’s a brief return for now like I said but a lot happens for Tracy in a small amount of time," she added.

"She has some news for Nate but when she sees him it’s not as easy to tell him as she may have thought. Her and Vanessa get to spend some quality time together too which has been a long time coming."
