Man City will land astonishing £285million if they complete treble triumph

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City can secure a massive £285m in prize money if they complete the treble in the final few weeks of the season.

The reigning Premier League champions sit top of the pile again with just a handful of games remaining, though challengers Arsenal remain in touch.. City are also in the final of the FA Cup, while a 1-1 draw in Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final leaves them well within reach of European glory.

There is still work to do, of course, and City could still end the season empty-handed. If they are able to repeat the 1999 achievements of neighbours Man Utd, though, then the rewards would be huge.

According to The Sun, Champions League success would net City £117.2m. With the Premier League crown worth £164m, plus £3.9m for the domestic cup, the grand total could hit £285.1m.

The first trophy City can make sure of is the Premier League, with an opportunity to make it three titles in a row. The season ends on May 28, but there is still a chance for Guardiola's men to clinch the title even earlier than that.

Just under a week later, Guardiola's men will take on United at Wembley, having overcome Sheffield United in the semis. Seven days after that is the Champions League final in Istanbul, where City would face either Inter Milan or AC Milan if they are able to overcome Real Madrid.

While City can't win the treble before the end of May, they can lose it. A draw away to Real Madrid represents a solid outcome against the team who eliminated them from last season's Champions League, but City still need to prevail in front of their own fans in the return fixture.

Their home form is enviable, though. City have won every single game they've played at the Etihad Stadium in this season's Champions League, and have a 100 per cent record at home in all competitions in 2023.

"I think Brentford before the World Cup was the last time - I could be wrong - but we even drew a game," City star Jack Grealish said after the first leg. "I think we’ve won every game since then. Obviously we lost that one but I think even within ourselves, at the Etihad at the moment we just feel unstoppable there.

"We come here tonight to try and win, I swear we didn’t try and get a draw, we come here to win. But, I think it just shows our character. To go a goal down is always difficult, playing at place like this and to go a goal down, I think in the end it probably was a fair result. They had their chances, we had a few as well. I really enjoyed it tonight, man. I loved it."
