A lucky builder who won a £120,000 prize on the National Lottery celebrated by buying a round of bacon rolls for his pals.

Paul Bevan’s ticket matched five main numbers in The National Lottery’s Set For Life draw on March 27, landing him £10,000 a month for a year.

Instead of treating himself to a day off to celebrate his good luck he decided instead to head to work as usual to help clear out a house.

And he shared his good fortune with his mates by buying them all breakfast as they enjoyed eating bacon, sausage and egg rolls together.

He told Wales Online: “I know my mates will laugh when they hear this but, whenever I check my tickets on the app, I scan it and close my eyes hoping to hear the little tune it plays when your ticket is a winner.

“Usually, when I hear that little ditty it’s announcing a £5 or sometimes £10 win, but this time when I opened my eyes I was congratulated on being a Set For Life winner, £10,000 every month for a year.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, in fact, I was so unsure I scanned the ticket about five times – this time with my eyes firmly open! – and each time there was the same winning message.”

When he got to the site he showed his boss and mates before heading to a nearby shop so it could be checked properly on the terminal before he called the National Lottery.

Whilst he was there he bought rounds of bacon, sausage and egg rolls to celebrate.

Paul says he has no plans to stop working but he is thinking about what the future may hold.

He added: ““To be honest it really hasn’t sunk in, the idea that £10,000 will be paid to me every month for the next year takes some getting used to.

“I’ve worked all my life but never had money like that, or dreamt I ever would, but I do have a few ideas up my sleeve.

“A few years back I started saving for a campervan so I could eventually hit the open road and explore more of Wales, and the UK.

“Over the years the pot has slowly grown but I was a long way from my target, now in just a month I could hit it, and in two double it.

“I won’t be buying anything too soon, I’ve waited this long so I’ll wait until the end of the summer when there should be some good deals about, but to know that by the end of the year I’ll finally have my campervan is just brilliant.”

“Before I get the camper, and if I can get the time off, I might book myself a little trip to Jamaica.

“Years ago my mum went and she said it was an island paradise so I fancy a bit of that.

“The only other thing on my wish list for now, a trip to Anfield to see Liverpool play at home. “I’ve been a lifelong fan and never seen them play, other than on the telly.”
