Samantha Womack has opened up about a possible return to EastEnders - after Rita Simons said the Mitchell sisters could be back.

Roxy - played by Rita Simons - made a return to the soap in huge scenes recently where she appeared in a dream-like state as her daughter Amy struggled. The pair were killed off on the soap six years ago in shocking scenes.

Alongside her sister Ronnie, Roxy met her end on her sister's wedding day to Jack Branning. Ronnie had drowned as she tried to save her sister, with her wedding dress dragging her back under the water. Roxy dived into the pool, but suffered a heart attack as soon as she hit the water, believed to be from the drugs she was taking, and Ronnie also lost her life trying to save her sister.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, Samantha was asked if she'd be up for a return as Ronnie Mitchell.

"Last week, Rita Simons said there could possibly be a comeback on the Square, what do you say?" Susanna asked.

She replied: "I love her positivity. We were seen at the end of the episode floating quite lifelessly in the pool but I love her positivity and I'm definitely going to watch it. I was in Spain and my VPN wasn't working but I really want to watch it."

Rita Simons had previously teased Roxy could make a permanent return to EastEnders, despite being dead.

"It is up to the viewers how far they are willing to accept whether she is alive or not. EastEnders belongs to the public and it is up to them to decide," she explained to The Sun, "Now is the time to say I played that scene as if I was holding my breath.

"Go back and watch it online and you will see next to nothing of me at all. I also refused to do the coffin scene. I was asked directly to my face and I refused point blank. It was really difficult because I was never a difficult actress or a diva but I had to do this thing to have any chance to protect me because I cared about Roxy. I didn’t let anyone film me jump in the pool, so no one saw me drown."
