Husband accused of murdering wife and dumping her in a river in suitcase
A husband accused of murdering his wife and disposing of her body in a suitcase in a river appeared in court today.
Aminan Rahman, 45, is charged with murdering 24-year-old Suma Begum in their home in Docklands, east London, on 30 April.
She has been missing since that date and her body has not yet been found.
Prosecutors believe Rahman put Ms Begum, dead or alive, into a large black suitcase in the early hours of 30 April before pushing it into the River Lea.
Police continue to search for the suitcase.

Prosecutor Tom Broomfield said: "It is alleged that he either killed or incapacitated Ms Begum, placed her or her body in a suitcase which he then dumped into the River Lea, part of the River Thames.
"The river has been searched but there is no sign of that suitcase.
"Because of the tidal nature of the Thames, it is not thought the suitcase of Ms Begum will be found until effectively the suitcase appears on the river bank."
Rahman, of no fixed address, is charged with murder.
Judge Lickley remanded him in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on 25 July.
