Drew Barrymore starred in a string of parody performances for the MTV Movie Awards.

The Hollywood star made a parody of her 1999 movie, Never Been Kissed, as well as Netflix's Wednesday series, performing the 'Wednesday' dance and recent bizarre thriller, Cocaine Bear.

She dressed up in an old fashioned pink prom dress and braces to pay homage to her 90s romantic comedy, and headed off on a quest to get her first kiss.

Throughout the skit, she was thrusted into scenes from popular shows from the past year, including Jordan Peele's sci-fi horror Nope, White Lotus, where she tried to help a pleading Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), and evil robot doll, M3GAN, from the movie of the same.

Drew showed off her dance moves as she recreated the Wednesday dance from the hit Addams Family spin-off Netflix series starring Jenna Ortega.

She finally got her long-awaited kiss from the title creature of Cocaine Bear.

Despite starring in the introduction segment for the awards, Drew announced earlier in the week that she'd be stepping down from her hosting role for the event.

She made the shocking move to stand in solidarity with film and television writers who are striking over chronically low pay and concerns over being replaced by so-called AI programs.

Drew released her statement via Variety, writing: "I have listened to the writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike.

"Everything we celebrate and honor about movies and television is born out of their creation. And until a solution is reached, I am choosing to wait but I’ll be watching from home and hope you will join me.

"I thank MTV, who has truly been some of the best partners I have ever worked with," she added. "And I can’t wait to be a part of this next year, when I can truly celebrate everything that MTV has created, which is a show that allows fans to choose who the awards go to and is truly inclusive."
