A dog walker who was tricked by a pervert into viewing picture of male genitalia has issued a warning to other women.

The woman, who didn't want to be named, was walking her dogs in Savile Park in Halifax at around midday on Wednesday when a man in his 50s reached out to pet one her dogs.

He struck up a conversation with the walker, not far from The Crossley Heath School, about his dog who had passed away, the ExaminerLive reports.

After getting out his phone to "show her pictures" he scrolled onto a number of indecent images of male genitalia.

The woman explained: "On Wednesday, whilst walking my dogs on Savile Park, I walked past the bank of benches behind Crossley’s school. The majority of the benches were occupied and as I passed the first bench, the man seated there petted one of my dogs.

"I would say he was in his 50s, a slight man dressed in cycle gear with a bicycle propped next to him. He was white-haired with a balding crown.

"He began to talk to me about his dog who had passed away, and told me that it was an unusual dog. He then reached inside his jacket pocket and retrieved his mobile phone.

"He proceeded to show me a photograph of the dog. After doing so, he deliberately scrolled the photographs on his phone and subjected me to a number of indecent images of male genitalia.

"I immediately walked away. The people on the other benches were unaware of the situation and the man continued to sit on the bench. I made my way back to my car, by which time, I was incredibly upset.

"This was a violation. I was subjected to something that I didn’t want, expect or ask for.

"There is no doubt in my mind that this is something that he did to get a reaction. He did not apologise or look in the slightest bit embarrassed that this had happened.

"This man does not have the right to do that to someone. More importantly, if he’s done it to me, he has likely done it to others, or will do it again. As he was outside of Crossley’s school before lunchtime, I am concerned that it could easily have been a teenager in my place.

"This type of thing was once laughed off but shouldn’t be. It can affect people severely and these things do have an impact. It is not ok, and I want to warn others so it doesn’t happen to them.

"If nothing else, I want to make sure people know what to look out for and, if enough people report incidents like this, maybe one day women will feel a little bit safer out there."

The incident was reported to police and it has since emerged similar incidents have happened to other women, including other locations in Halifax such as Shibden Park.

She added: "I also had two people confirm that a man matching the description is seen regularly in the location of my incident at Savile Park. It is clearly a regular haunt for him."
