Kirsty Young made a blunder whilst providing coverage over the Coronation Concert earlier this evening following an interview that had featured singer Nicole Scherzinger.

The presenter, 54, fronted coverage on the BBC ahead of the concert at Windsor Castle tonight alongside Jordan Banjo, 30, and Clara Amfo, 38, who were backstage.

Jordan had been interviewing singer Nicole, 44, when King Charles III, 74, and Queen Camilla, 75, arrived earlier than planned, which prompted a voiceover from Kirsty.

She said: "And there of course we see the arrival of their Majesties the King and Queen. There's not very much that could upstage Nicole Sershinger, uh you know who I mean".

Kirsty later addressed the blunder and had another attempt at pronouncing Nicole's surname when Jordan and Clara joined her in the studio during their live coverage.

She said: "Very sorry to cut you off in your prime [Jordan]. I have to tell you it was all go here. Suddenly the King and Queen arrived and we all thought 'what, wait a minute'."

Jordan responded by telling his colleague Kirsty on the show: "If anyone was gonna cut my time off with Nicole Scherzinger it had to be the King and Queen. That's fine".

Kirsty reacted by teasing over her mistake earlier. She commented during the exchange with Jordan: "I couldn't even say Nicole Scherzinger, never mind apologise for it".

Viewers noticed the blunder over Nicole's name and some took to social media platform like Twitter to share their thoughts on the situation that happened live on air.

One tweeted: "Not the presenter pronouncing Nicole Scherzinger's name so horribly. Another said: "Nicole Scherzinger or whatever her name is, dear me what a mess".

"Did she say I can't even say Nicole Scherzinger? She just did. Lol," tweeted another. Whilst a fourth person said: "Bit weird that she can't pronounce Nicole Scherzinger".

Others found the blunder amusing, with one person tweeting: "She can't say Nicole Scherzinger hahahaha". Another commented that they were "howling" over it.

Nicole took to the stage at the concert this evening to perform a rendition of the song Reflection, which had featured on the soundtrack to Disney film Mulan.

She had told Dermot O'Leary on BBC Radio 2: "I listened to the lyrics and they really spoke to my heart. I hope that it speaks to the Royals and everyone out there."
