Rock legend Bruce Springsteen is making the most of his time in Dublin, popping into a pub and a fish and chip shop, after visiting The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowen.

The global superstar, 73, landed in Ireland's capital as he takes his Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tour to the RDS Arena for three dates on May 5, 7 and 9.

In between playing the sold-out concerts, Bruce has been making the most of his time in the capital, enjoying pints and visiting a fish and chips meal.

Yesterday, the singer shocked punters when he stopped in for a drink at The Long Hall pub on South Great George's Street, where he had visited seven years ago.

Wearing a flat cap, trench coat and open neck blue shirt, Bruce raised a glass with another visitor, in a photo taken by staff, with surprised onlookers in the background.

Sharing the photo on social media, the pub wrote: “Seven years on it was lovely to welcome back two regulars to the pub today! One from Aberystwyth in Wales the other from New Jersey in the US. It’s the randomness that makes it so special. Slainte!”

Later, Bruce tucked into fish and chips from Leo Burdock in Christchurch.

He smiled behind the counter with staff, in a photo again uploaded to social media.

The post read: “Woohoo. The Boss stopped by our flagship Christchurch. Springsteen, amazing legend.”

Leo Burdock owner Charlie McGrachan says the rock icon stops by when he visits for the city, and is a "genuinely nice guy".

He told Dublin Live: "When he comes to town, over the last 10 or 12 times, we’ve managed to get him in. He’s become a regular. He’s such a nice guy. He’s great with any of the regular staff.

"He has no problem letting people take photos of him. Just genuine. Real nice person."

Charlie added that Bruce normally orders a lemon sole with chips, while the band has cod and chips.

Earlier this week, the artist popped in to see The Pogues singer Shane, with Shane's Victoria Clarke capturing their sweet embrace.

Sharing the heartwarming picture of Springsteen and MacGowan, she said: "What an amazing honour and a beautiful experience to get a visit from The Boss!!!⁦@springsteen @ShaneMacGowan. Such a truly wonderful man and a total genius!"

One music fan enthusiast: "This made my whole day! There is a whole lot of awesome in this photo!!!

"Makes me happy to see it! I wish you both a beautiful day!"

Another person said: "Love this. The look of love and respect on both their faces. Priceless." A third person added: "Legends! So happy they could spend some time together. The happiest post I’ll see all week."

Bruce is set to perform at Edinburgh's BT Murrayfield at the end of the month before a one-off show at Villa Park in Birmingham in June before concerts at BST Hyde Park in July for the only dates in the UK.
