A mum is livid after her daughter wasn't invited to the birthday party of somebody in her class as they say she is a "bossy buzzkill."

The woman knows her daughter can be a bit more cautious and is going through a phase of telling on people when they do something wrong.

However, the mum still feels it is bad to exclude a six-year-old from a birthday party for this reason and phoned the other mum to give her a piece of her mind.

But the exchange turned sour between the mums so they are now wandering what else they can do on that day.

Venting on Reddit, the woman, who remained anonymous, wrote: "The rules for the school is if you are handing out invites at school everyone in the class must be invited. If you want to exclude some people than you send the invites in the mail.

"One person is having a pool party in two weeks for her birthday. Her parents sent her to school with the invites and she handed them out before school started. Basically everyone in the class is invited besides my daughter."

As they were handed out at school, everybody knows her daughter is not invited which has left the kid feeling upset.

"My daughter is a rule follower and she does tattle on people to the teacher often. She is learning to mind her business but has trouble with it when they do something she thinks is wrong," she wrote.

"I called up the mum and asked if there was a mistake since my daughter came home upset. She told me no and that she is not invited due to my daughter being a bossy buzzkill. That she would ruin the party. I lost it and called her a cruel person.

"My husband told me that I shouldn't have called and that the other mum is correct about our kid being bossy and that this is a lesson for her to learn."

The mum now plans to take her daughter out for the day with another friend of hers.

In response, many felt the invites could have mailed but thought the mum made everything much worse for her daughter.

One person wrote: "I guess they should have mailed the invites, I see why your daughter wasn't invited. Also seems that it may be a learned trait."

While another stated: "At some point every kid knows what it's like to not be invited and yes it sucks but it's a part of life. The parents could have handled this better on both sides."
