A person is fuming as a cyclist who always stops on their drive wants to report their dogs for barking at him.

The resident lives in a very rural area with large dogs who bark when somebody approaches the house from the drive.

But the person can't stand it when the same cyclist always stops on their drive for a break as it is very clearly their property.

However, as the dogs always bark at the cyclist, he wants to report the owners for having them and the pair got into a very heated exchange in recent days over the dogs' behaviour.

Venting on Mumsnet, the resident, who remained anonymous, wrote: "I have many dogs. Large dogs. There are dog flaps so they can run in and out as they wish onto the property. I am rural and one of the purposes of the dogs is to alert me to people around, so I'm not bothered by them barking if someone comes to the gate.

"The gateway to my drive is set back about 15ft so that I can park the car without having to open the gates and drive in. Its clearly my driveway and separate from the road."

The resident grows frustrated when the cyclist decides to stop on the drive as there are plenty of other spaces where he could take a break.

"The dogs bark at him. He shouts at them to be quiet. They obviously ignore him. I used to shout them back in but the last few weeks I haven't bothered because well I'm grumpy," they said.

"Today my mum has arrived to visit and the cyclist is yet again in the drive. He's had a bit of a go at her. She's come in mithering so I've gone out to tell him that if he doesn't like them barking at him to stop standing on the drive.

"It got into a bit of a heated discussion before I stormed off. He's going to report me apparently as they are intimidating and its illegal to have a camera and no signs."

In response, many have sided with the resident and said the cyclist should not be stopping there.

One person wrote: "I agree with you completely. It's very common knowledge in practice for people in rural areas to have dogs on their land. And they will act as dogs do."

While another stated: "I wouldn't mind him pausing on the drive for a breather after a big hill. But ridiculous to then complain about your dogs doing their job and alerting you to his presence."
