Woman slated for having a 'fake wedding' birthday party near cousin's big day
A woman has faced a backlash from her cousin for planning a "fake wedding" birthday party very close her cousin's real nuptials.
The party fan, who is openly anti-marriage, never expects to tie the knot but wants a bit wedding-style celebration for her upcoming birthday. The decision has been faced with criticism from her bride-to-be relative.
She wants to hire a photographer and a venue and have her guests dress up for the event - with plans to book her pals in for a hotel stay too.
After that, the woman is also going to take herself on a 'solo honeymoon' to her dream destination.

In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, wrote: "I've never had a wedding, never even got close, and I realistically never will - I've discovered I don't live peacefully with other people. And I'm ok with that, marriage is not a state I'd be happy in.
"I'm not stupid enough to get married just so I can have a wedding, but for my birthday, I was planning a wedding-like party - formal dress code (not a literal wedding dress, but an evening gown type dress) and I'd hire a venue and a photographer, maybe have a night before in the hotel with some close friends.
"I'm even planning a 'solo honeymoon', taking a big trip for a couple of weeks to a dream location."
However, while some have said it is a great idea, others have not been so keen.
"Some people I've mentioned it to seem excited, but others have said it's self indulgent and a bit weird. One of my cousins who will probably be getting married at around the same time (not the same date) has accused me of trying to steal her thunder," she wrote.
"I'm not personally referring to it as a wedding, but other people have said so it's like a wedding but just for you?”
In response, many supported her idea and said she could just make it clear it is more of a ball type event.
One person wrote: "My good friend did it when she turned 30! It was a blast and it worked wonderfully for her."
While another stated: "You have weird friends. I had a surprise formal surprise party for my wife and people dressed up and had catering and such. We just called it a fancy birthday party. Referring to it as a wedding is weird though."
