A woman has been left fuming with her mother-in-law after her partner's mum claimed she was going to be the Queen of the woman's wedding.

The woman is due to be getting married soon and is planning everything so is growing frustrated with her in-law who is trying to steal her thunder on her big day.

As well as calling herself the 'Queen of the day', the soon-to-be in-law also tried to book a photographer without consulting the couple and wanted them to get married at the same place she had her wedding some years ago.

The bride-to-be took to Reddit to vent her frustrations with the older woman.

In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "One thing that frustrates me, is her trying to upstage me at my wedding. The reason I'm saying this is that while my mum is wearing a neutral navy dress, my fiancé's mum is planning to wear a bright in-your-face flashy red dress.

"Also, when she was showing me the dress (not to ask if it was appropriate, but just to show off what she already bought..), she said that she'll be THE QUEEN OF THE DAY."

The woman has been frustrated over the last couple of months due to the comment but explained that this is not the only thing the in-law has done to disrupt the planning of the day.

She wrote: "She also bought a WHITE dress for my fiancé's sister (she's 15), specifically after her, sister, me and fiancé discussed that no way she can wear a white dress. She pretended to be a planner of our wedding the second she knew the date. She booked a photographer for our wedding photoshoot without even asking or consulting with us.

"She also wanted to choose and buy our wedding cake. Also, when we started planning, she told my fiancé to book the same venue where she had her own wedding a few years ago. Thank goodness I found a better place and that was off the table."

The relative has also shown some judgment for the bride's choice of dress for the big day as she did not look happy to see it.

"She's acting like it's her own wedding, or trying to recreate it, or am I being crazy for thinking this," wrote the bride-to-be.

In response, many have supported the author of the post and agreed the in-law has been acting very unreasonably during this process.

One person wrote: "Just watch her on the wedding day and make sure she stays in line. Maybe a bridesmaid or family member can keep you informed if she tries anything out of line."

While another stated: "Queen for the day there's only one at a wedding she's wearing white and marrying the groom."
