Neymar makes his feelings on PSG clear after ultras protest amid club meltdown
Neymar has taken aim at Paris Saint-Germain by liking a social media post which describes the club as “small” and lacking in history.
PSG have gone into meltdown over recent days, with the fans in uproar following another underwhelming season. Lionel Messi has been suspended after taking an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia, effectively ending his career with the club ahead of his contract expiring in the summer.
Neymar has become a lightning rod for PSG supporters’ anger, with a group gathering outside his house on Wednesday to demand he leaves the club. Judging by his social media activity, the Brazilian forward is clearly angry with the club and their supporters.
On Thursday, fans spotted that he had liked an Instagram post which was hugely critical of PSG. The post, translated from French, said: “The difference between being great and having greatness! PSG misses, and misses, misses and misses its fans!
“Having history is not optional, positioning yourself as great and having a great attitude is within reach! They are so small! I was clear!”
Hakim Ziyech brutally denied deadline day transfer as PSG furious at ChelseaNeymar also wrote a poignant message on his Instagram story to give an insight into his thinking. Translated from Portuguese, it read: “Don't let people put you in their storm, put them in your peace.”

Amid the chaos, PSG released a statement about supporters protesting outside Neymar’s house. “Paris Saint-Germain most strongly condemns the intolerable and insulting actions of a small group of individuals that took place on Wednesday,” a club statement read. “Whatever the differences of opinion, nothing justifies such actions. The club gives its full support to its players, its staff and all those targeted by such shameful behaviour.”
PSG is braced for huge changes once the season finishes. Messi will leave when his contract expires at the end of June, bringing to an end his two-year stay in Paris, and he won’t be the only one.
As Mirror Football exclusively revealed, Neymar's future, as well as that of Kylian Mbappe, is expected to come under scrutiny as president Nasser Al-Khelaifi oversees a change in strategy. The galacticos approach, which has been led by the front three of Neymar, Messi and Mbappe, is coming to an end, with the club ready to change tact and focus on young players instead.
PSG are still top of Ligue 1, five points ahead of Marseille, but their 3-1 home defeat by Lorient on the weekend underlined the struggles this season. Christophe Galtier’s side failed once again in the Champions League, dispatched by Bayern Munich in the last-16, and there is an acceptance that the current approach has not worked.
Neymar is under contract under June 2025, with the option of another year. He joined the club from Barcelona for a world record fee of £198million in August 2017 and has 118 goals and 77 assists in 173 appearances so far.
