Emmerdale fans were left heartbroken for Mary tonight - as Faye's true colours were revealed.

Mary - played by Louise Jameson - bravely told her daughter Rhona she was gay earlier this year, and had slowly started to date women after years of keeping her sexuality a secret. She had found what she thought was love with Faye, but whilst she seemed so in love with her, actually Faye had been keeping her real intentions a secret.

Many have suspected Faye isn't what she says she is and in tonight's episode, it was confirmed she was just after her 'lover's money after lying to her about the 'charity' she worked with in Ecuador.

Suzy had been suspicious of Faye, with her comments eventually leading Mary to confront her about where the money was going and if the charity had really existed. She was horrified as Faye revealed she had planned to use the money herself and in fact there was no charity at all, before an angry Faye pushed her over and left her for dead.

Faye was later found by Gus, who had come to visit Rhona and he quickly called 999 as paramedics rushed out to see her. Mary was heartbroken as she was comforted by her daughter, devastated that she had fallen for Faye.

"Really don’t like this storyline on Emmerdale. To be conned by someone that your in love with, must be awful. Just terrible," one wrote, as a second added: "Not happy about this, I liked Mary, she deserved to be happy #emmerdale."

A third shared: " #emmerdale Surely they can't let this one get away in Emmerdale, catch her before she gets too far," whilst a fourth wrote: "How smug is she now! Why did Mary have to show her the money! Now she's walked off with it leaving Mary on the floor!"

Louise opened up about her own experience with scammers, and gets at least one message a week for those trying to trick her.

"I will get an email, phone call or text at least once a week trying to tempt me into some scam. They could well be algorithms but there are ones that will say things like ‘I’ve got loads of money, can you give me your bank details so I can put it in there. Then there are others like ‘Can you move all your money into this account so we can save your current account," she told The Mirror.
