Richarlison's "weird" back tattoo leaves Richards baffled - "A bit ridiculous"

Pundit Micah Richards has given his verdict on Richarlison's back tattoo after watching the Spurs forward show off the ink on Sunday.

Richarlison headed home a late equaliser for Spurs at Anfield as they came from 3-0 down to draw level against Liverpool. It wasn't enough for Ryan Mason's side to return to North London with a point, though, with Diogo Jota delivering an even later winner.

The £60m man's tattoo features his own face, as well as those of Brazil's national team icons Ronaldo and Neymar. Former England defender Richards wasn't convinced by the art, though, having his say after Spurs' defeat.

"It's a bit ridiculous, that, isn't it?" Richards told 5 Live Sport's The Monday Night Club. "I mean R9 [Ronaldo], a legend of the game. Neymar has done very well for himself but why would you get him tattooed?

"Neymar is an outstanding player but it's weird, he's still playing. I mean if it was like people who have retired I would get it, but Neymar's his team-mate."

"It's like me getting a tattoo of Daniel Sturridge. I mean I like him, I love him, he's a quality player but I'm not going to get a tattoo of him."

Spurs' defeat was not without moments of controversy. Those on the away bench felt Jota should not have been on the field to score the winner, with the Portugal forward having escaped a red card for a high challenge on Oliver Skipp.

Honestly, it's probably the clearest red card you will see on the football pitch," interim manager Mason said. "I need an explanation. It endangered the opponent, Skipp needs stitches and Jota has scored the goal when he shouldn't be on the pitch."

He elaborated further in his post-match press conference. "It was an instant red card," Mason added. "When you show studs, draw blood and create a gash, it ticks all the boxes. Listen, it's decided the game because that player shouldn't have been on the pitch."

The defeat left Spurs' European hopes hanging by a thread, with the London side winning just one of their six league games since parting ways with former manager Antonio Conte. Interim replacement Cristian Stellini was axed after a 6-1 loss at Newcastle, while the defeat at Liverpool leaves them sixth with four games remaining.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hit back at his counterpart, though, making reference to an earlier Skipp challenge which could have seen the midfielder dismissed. "Diogo Jota has the foot high but he's not going for the head," the former Dortmund boss said.

"I heard Oliver Skipp could've had a red card. Did he speak about that as well? Wanting Diogo Jota off the pitch, worry about other stuff."
