More than 7,000 people have been left without power and roads are blocked by fallen trees as the storm leaves a trail of destruction in its wake.
Severe weather specialist and CBS12 neteorologist Michael Ehrenberg told locals to take shelter.

Residents were forced to take cover, with some hiding in bathrooms and others in storm shelters.
Local resident Shawn MacNamara told WPTV: "We ducked down in our car as it went over us. Scariest thing ever."

The storm is expected to move across the state with weather warnings in place in Tampa Bay and Orange and Seminole counties.
Tornados, hail, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast as the storm continues with coastal towns expected to take the brunt of the impact.
